“The question of who gets to write the rules is a really crucial one if we think about why different groups of people should trust in the digital environment. It’s a question of whether they feel they’ve had a stake in creating those different rules.”

Heidi Tworek at the Digital Technologies: Building Global Trust event

Amid the global COVID-19 pandemic, the Group of Twenty (G20) group of countries has served as a key forum for addressing issues such as vaccine distribution and the taxation of digital platforms in a rapidly evolving global economy. As part of the Think20 (T20) Spring Roundtables in the run-up to the annual meeting of G20 leaders, CIGI President Rohinton P. Medhora and Managing Director of Digital Economy Robert Fay co-chaired task force discussions on renewing multilateralism and the digital transformations — such as creating a Digital Stability Board — needed for post-pandemic economies.

CIGI also co-hosted a major round table on building global trust in digital technologies, featuring CIGI Senior Fellow Heidi Tworek, Erica Borghard from the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Maria Chiara Carrozza from the Italian National Research Council and Andrew Wyckoff from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
