Cities bring together people, shared spaces, goods and services through intricate networks of interdependence. Digital technologies play a crucial role in modern urban life, as digitization levels continue to increase globally. As more people live and work in cities, connected urban environments have become an important interface to address the needs of growing populations, including by improving quality of life, optimizing services and promoting sustainability. Although quantum-enhanced intelligent transportation systems have the potential to accelerate the efficiency of smart cities, they also come with risks and governance challenges.
