Bio
Perry Mehrling is the director of Education Programs for the Institute for New Economic Thinking. Perry has been professor of economics at Barnard College since 1987. He teaches courses on the economics of money and banking, the history of money and finance, and the financial dimensions of the US retirement, health and education systems. He also has held visiting positions at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management and Boston University.
Perry is the author of The New Lombard Street: How the Fed Became the Dealer of Last Resort (Princeton University Press, 2011), and Fischer Black and the Revolutionary Idea of Finance (John Wiley & Sons, 2005; reissued in a revised paperback edition in 2012). He received a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and a Ph.D. from Harvard University
