Bio

Ben Gansky is a science and technology studies scholar, award-winning artist and community organizer. He is the director of clinical programs for Digital Public, a research affiliate of Institute for the Future, and a co-founder of Free Machine, a non-profit collective that develops community engagement platforms for technology policy. Ben holds a B.F.A. from the University of Minnesota and an M.F.A. from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a National Science Foundation Research Traineeship fellow in Citizen-Centered Smart Cities and a Ph.D. candidate at Arizona State University. Ben’s research explores how public interest institutions understand and manage the politics of their digital infrastructures.
