Bio
Abhijit Sen Gupta is an economist with the Asian Development Bank in New Delhi. His research focuses on open economy macroeconomics, global financial architecture, public finance and monetary economics. In particular, he is interested in challenges that arise with volatile capital flows, exchange rate coordination among Asian economies and international financial regulation. His work has also focused on drivers of food inflation and suitability of an inflation-targeting regime in emerging markets such as India. His work has appeared in journals such as Oxford Economic Papers, International Economic Journal, Singapore Economic Review and Open Economies Review, along with several edited volumes published by the Asian Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank Institute and the World Bank.
In the past, he has worked with the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations and the World Bank in New Delhi, and at the International Monetary Fund headquarters in Washington, DC. He has also taught at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi and the University of California Santa Cruz. He obtained his M.A. and Ph.D. in international economics from the University of California Santa Cruz. He also holds an M.A. and M.Phil. in economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University.
