Emerging Technology and Responsible Business Conduct in the Global Economy

Canadian businesses face growing questions about how to ensure the responsible commercialization and use of emerging technologies that are now key drivers of success across all industries.

This interactive panel discussion, hosted by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI), explored expectations of business for responsible conduct and due diligence in relation to the development and deployment of emerging technologies. The panel highlighted how the deployment or sale of emerging technologies is increasingly implicated in the business sector’s responsibilities to respect human rights and the environment. Policy challenges and potential new governance approaches were explored, with a focus on how these may shape the future landscape for business.
