2019 Survey
The CIGI-Ipsos Global Survey, now in its fifth year, is the world’s largest and most comprehensive survey of internet security and trust, involving more than 25,000 internet users in over two dozen countries across North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region.
Conducted by Ipsos on behalf of the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI), in partnership with the Internet Society and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the survey provides invaluable insight into the views of internet users on a wide range of topics — from online privacy, social media and fake news, to blockchain, cryptocurrencies and the dark web.
The 2019 CIGI-Ipsos Global Survey was conducted between December 21, 2018, and February 10, 2019, and involved 25,229 internet users in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong (China), India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Poland, Republic of Korea, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Tunisia, Turkey and the United States.

2018 Survey
The 2018 CIGI-Ipsos Global Survey on Internet Security and Trust findings show that more than half of internet users surveyed around the world are more concerned about their online privacy than they were a year ago, reflecting growing concern around the world about online privacy and the power of social media platforms.
Conducted by Ipsos on behalf of CIGI, in partnership with UNCTAD and the Internet Society, the survey was conducted between December 29, 2017, and March 5, 2018, and reached 25,262 internet users in 25 economies: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong (China), India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Poland, Republic of Korea, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Tunisia, Turkey and the United States.
2017 Survey
The 2017 CIGI-Ipsos Global Survey on Internet Security and Trust, undertaken by CIGI and conducted by global research company Ipsos, reached 24,225 internet users in 24 countries, and was carried out between December 23, 2016, and March 21, 2017.
The survey participants were from the following countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Hong Kong (China), India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Poland, Republic of Korea, South Africa, Sweden, Tunisia, Turkey, United Kingdom and the United States.
2016 Survey
The 2016 CIGI-Ipsos Global Survey on Internet Security and Trust, undertaken by CIGI and conducted by global research company Ipsos, reached 24,143 internet users in 24 countries, and was carried out between November 20, 2015, and December 4, 2015.
The survey participants were from the following countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Poland, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, Tunisia, Turkey and the United States.
2014 Survey
The CIGI-Ipsos Global Survey on Internet Security and Trust, undertaken by CIGI and conducted by global research company Ipsos, reached 23,376 internet users in 24 countries, and was carried out between October 7, 2014, and November 12, 2014.
