Join us to celebrate the launch of Robert Gorwa’s new book, The Politics of Platform Regulation: How Governments Shape Online Content Moderation (Oxford University Press, 2024).
The Politics of Platform Regulation is the summation of Robert’s multi-year research project into the emerging domestic and international politics of online safety, with analyses of policy development in jurisdictions such as Australia, Brazil, China, Germany, India, New Zealand and the United States. This event will serve both as an introduction to Robert’s work and as an opportunity to engage with the CIGI community in discussions on the societal and policy implications of platform governance in today’s world.
Robert is a post-doctoral researcher at the Berlin Social Science Center and a CIGI fellow. He is especially interested in high-impact forms of private and public regulation in the digital economy, with current projects addressing governance by intermediaries in the artificial intelligence ecosystem, the politics of EU platform regulation and the workings of automated content analysis in technically complex policy domains. Learn more about him here.
The event will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024, 10:00–11:30AM ET (4:00–5:30PM CET), live via Zoom. It will begin with a presentation on the book and key findings, followed by a Q&A session with attendees. CIGI Research Directors Tracey Forrest and S. Yash Kalash will facilitate.
