Part-time Graphic Designer (12-month contract)

CIGI has an opening for a Part-time Graphic Designer (3 days per week)

Position Summary

The part-time Graphic Designer will be responsible for the layout and design of publications, digital media and motion graphics in support of CIGI’s research programs, public affairs and operations.

The designer may be involved in all stages, from concept and strategy to production and promotion. The designer is both highly creative and technically skilled, is comfortable working in multiple formats in a fast-paced environment, and adept at working with people across many departments and with other creative professionals. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Digital Media and Software Development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work directly with the research staff, publications editors and internal clients to design and publications, UX mock-ups, infographics, data visualizations, marketing and promotional materials, as well as other graphics as assigned.
  • Work with the graphic design team to ensure the smooth, coordinated and timely delivery of projects for all of CIGI’s design needs.
  • Work with the Senior Manager, Digital Media and Software Development and colleagues in graphic design to ensure the CIGI identity is consistently and properly represented across all programs and a variety of media.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Comfortable creating visual designs for a broad range of experiences including, but not limited to, web design, print layout, infographics, data visualization and typography.
  • Knowledge of layout, typography, photography, illustration, colour and design for both print and digital applications.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with strong presentation, interpersonal and collaborative skills.

Note: This position is based at CIGI’s Waterloo office where employees have a hybrid work environment which requires them to be in the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
