Centre for International Governance Innovation welcomes Anil Arora to its Board of Directors

Waterloo, Canada — October 01, 2024 — The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) is pleased to announce that Anil Arora has joined CIGI’s Board of Directors.

With extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, Mr. Arora brings a wealth of experience to this role. He has led influential international forums for the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the United Nations. He has advised CEOs, Prime Ministers, Cabinet Ministers, Premiers, Deputy Ministers, and has led international business missions.

Mr. Arora is currently an Adjunct Lecturer at Harvard Kennedy School and a Global Digital Consultant at the World Bank. Mr. Arora also had a distinguished career in Canada's public service. Appointed Chief Statistician of Canada in September 2016, he retired in March of this year. While Chief Statistician, he led Statistics Canada through several high-profile initiatives that saw greater authority for its statistical operations, including updates to the Statistics Act, the establishment of the Canadian Statistics Advisory Council and the overall modernization of the agency. His work has helped shape the data and digital landscape domestically and globally.

We are thrilled Anil is joining CIGI’s board.”

Mr. Arora holds a B.Sc. from the University of Alberta and is a graduate of both the Certificate Program in Public Sector Leadership and Governance from the University of Ottawa and the Advanced Leadership Program at the Canada School of Public Service. His numerous awards and accolades include several Leadership Awards by the business community and the Association of Professional Executives of the Public Service of Canada (2009-2024), being named Outstanding Innovator (2023), one of the Top 25 Immigrants in Canada (2022), and Policy Maker (2022).
